Episode 01
Welcome to The Mindset of Podcasting. In this episode, I wanted to take a moment to share how I became a podcast manager and why I love podcasting.
1984 – born in Pensacola, FL. My dad was in the Navy and that was where he was stationed.
I am the oldest of 3. I have a younger sister, Jamie, and a younger brother, George.
Growing up I was labeled as shy so I took on that personality.
As a teenager, I was sometimes made fun of for being myself and speaking my truth so I became quiet again and started taking on the personality of my friends so I could be liked.
When I was 16, I got my first job at the Dollar Tree and met my now-husband, Morgan.
During my senior year, Morgan asked me out. He had a daughter that was 10 months old. Never thought I would be dating someone with a kid.
Also during my senior year, my parents were going through a messy divorce so I moved out as soon as I turned 18 and started living with my boyfriend.
After I graduated high school, I took a full-time assistant manager job at the Dollar Tree to help support us.
2003 – Got our first apartment and went to a trade school to become a medical office assistant.
2004 – got a job as a Unit Clerk in the Emergency Room of a local hospital. I had no choice but to start using my voice in this job as it relied very heavily on communication.
2006 – got married and had my first daughter, Miranda.
2008 – Took a job in Medical Records at the hospital so I could have a day job. This job helped me use my voice more as I was getting walked all over by other co-workers.
2011 – had my son, Camden. He was born not breathing and spent a month in the NICU.
A week after Camden came home, I ended up in the hospital with a blood clot in my left leg and both lungs. I learned I have a clotting disorder called Factor V Leiden.
2013 – A big hospital took over our small hospital and laid off 14 co-workers. This is when I started hating my job.
2016 – Started my entrepreneur journey by joining an MLM. I did great the first month but then started spending more money than I was making.
2017 – Started a blog to try and make money. Soon realized that I hate writing.
2018 – Quit my job at the hospital and joined my husband in a local coffee shop that he owns.
2019 – I knew the coffee business wasn’t for me and I still wanted a job where I could make my own schedule. I started learning about the phase of your menstrual cycle and decided I wanted to teach others about it too so I became a menstrual cycle coach.
2020 – realized I did not enjoy coaching but I did love working on the backend of my business so became a Virtual Assistant.
July 2020 – Got my first VA client. I was also helping her with her podcast and fell in love with all the behind-the-scenes of managing a podcast.
April 2021 – Started only taking Podcast Manager clients
July 2021 – Let go of all my VA clients and became a full-time Podcats Manager!
